November 15th 1976 marked a significant day in the history of one of the largest public schools in the Caribbean. It was on this day that the first group of student numbering eleven hundred (1100 ) entered the Chaguanas Senior Comprehensive School. The first principal was Mr. Ibrahim Ishmeal.
In April of the following year the school moved to its present location at Helen Street, Lange Park, Chaguanas. By then the student population had reached eighteen hundred (1800) and the teaching staff one hundred and two (102). The school was fully functional and included civil service, maintenance and training staff.
Now called Chaguanas North Secondary School, it remains a co-educational school which accommodates just under nine hundred (900) students in forms one to six (1-6 ). Students continue to benefit from the wide range of academic and practical subjects offered as they gain their qualifications in Caribbean Vocational Qualification ( CVQ), Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC ) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE).
